Since it’s been awhile, I thought an update on Eyeblack Odyssey was appropriate, and since I actually have some news, I’m happy to report this isn’t a giant waste of my (our?) time.
To put it as succinctly as possible, we are go for launch.
What that means, essentially, is that I’ve finished the interior layout of the book, my lovely wife has successfully ended her design work that produced a brilliant cover, and that the majority of the forms and signatures and straining of blood from rocks has completed. I should be receiving a hard copy proof in the next week, and if that passes muster (crossing fingers now), the book will go on sale shortly thereafter.
To say this moment has been a long time coming would be an understatement.
I do not exaggerate when I say I very nearly feel like crying today. It’s been a crazy amount of work just to get to this point, and while I know I now need to sell the bloody thing, just knowing that I’ve completed something of this magnitude (230 pages strong!) is overwhelming. As Cait said so accurately (since we’re abstaining from alcohol for Lent — yet another reason to cry), “We should celebrate! With, um, ginger ale?”
Indeed.
If you’d like to check out the online store I’m going to spend the vast majority of my energy directing people to (since I get my largest royalties from sales at this location, meaning, please buy it there rather than elsewhere if you want to do me a solid), feel free to follow the link. And have no fear — when Eyeblack Odyssey does go on sale officially, I shall beat everyone over the head with said information relentlessly.
Thanks for the interest, everyone!

High five! Can’t wait to read it. I’ll be buying a copy as soon as it’s out.
You’ll love it — I pay homage to the Saints and then trash LSU fans several chapters later (okay, “trash” is a strong word, but I still give them some business). Thanks for the support!
Congratulations Dave! This is amazing! Not only are you married to the most wonderful woman alive, you are also publishing a book AND celebrated the birth of your 1st born all in the same year. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you are having the BEST YEAR EVER!!!
Many Mazels to you!!
Thanks, Nicki. Have I mentioned lately that you rock? Well, you do. And yes, I am thankful for what has been a pretty amazing year.
I just have to say . . . you are the man! As sappy as this sounds . . . I’m so fricken proud of you!
