We’re back, talking about the new movie on this week’s WhoDatJedi podcast. This Rise of Skywalker podcast focuses on the return of the Emperor.
How did we think it worked? Why did the creators bring him back? And should the trailers have revealed his return?
The episode synopsis is below.
Your hosts — Aaron Svoboda (@Aaron_Svoboda), Alfredo Narvaez (@NOLA_Fredo) and David Gladow (@davegladow) — revisit Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker with a specific focus on the Emperor’s return. Palpatine! Darth Sidious! Sheev! They get into specific problems they had with the execution of the storyline of his return and how it might have been improved. But they also ask and attempt to answer the question: Why even bring him back in the first place? He was a big part of the marketing push, so the conversation also addresses the trailers and looks at how specific elements from the trailers were expanded on in the film. Did this movie deliver on what it was promising?
