Here’s where I currently sit with things in regards to the top prep football teams in the New Orleans area.
1. Rummel
2. Curtis
3. Brother Martin
4. Destrehan
5. McDonogh 35
6. Hahnville
7. Ehret
8. Landry-Walker
You get the impression Rummel really hasn’t had to get to first gear yet. The Raiders will be tested at some point (likely in New Jersey), but you have to like how business-like they’ve been to this point.
I’ve taken a “show me” attitude with Ehret, and while East St. John has been in disarray through two weeks, the Patriots did what they were supposed to do, winning 30-0, so they join my ballot for Fox 8 this week.
I’m pleased Landry-Walker rewarded my faith in them, coming back to defeat Karr in Week 2. Speaking of Karr, they get the steamrolling Brother Martin offense next week (phenom running back Bruce Jordan-Swilling scored seven touchdowns last week) … meaning the Cougars may well soon own the “distinction” of being the best 0-3 team in the state.
